Catching Up With Recent Comebacks: Ben|Punch|Zion.T & Sumin|John Park|Gummy

Let’s do a quick round-up of some singles that were released earlier this week. As per usual with my compiled reviews, I’ll be sharing very brief thoughts on each song.

(Please note – this is a real-time review. Meaning I am typing down my exact thoughts while checking out each artist.)

First on this list is BEN. On May 4th, she released a remake of KISS’s “Because I’m A Girl”. KISS was a South Korean R&B/ballad trio made up of three ladies and signed to J-Entercom. The new version of this song is titled “Because I am a woman”. I did check out the original first, and it’s a lovely and heartfelt song. Here’s the music video for anyone interested –

I love BEN’s version as well. Since she naturally has a soft voice, it added a refreshing and hopeful feeling to the song. Also, I noticed that they didn’t change up the chord progression a lot, Rather, they slowed down the instrumental and added some violins, which then made the track more in line with the modern style of ballads.

Next is Punch. She released her new digital single, “We’re Breaking Up”, on May 5th. She is another vocal queen, so I’m pretty excited to check out this song.

I was expecting a ballad, but I love that this song has a bit of a groove, and it’s still very relaxing. Punch looks beautiful. I love all her outfits; my favourite is the flower print gown. Also, I like the live performance set up for the music video. “We’re Breaking Up” is a calm song, and I enjoyed listening to it.

Following up is a collaboration single from Zion.T and SUMIN titled – “Creamppang”, which dropped on May 3rd. With these two artists involved, I already know I’m getting a juicy song.

I love the jingling bells they added into the instrumental. I live for both their distinct voices and singing styles. Honestly, SUMIN’s vocal runs are insane; she sounds too good. “Creamppang” has a groovy but laid-back vibe. The music video is weird, but I’m enjoying watching these quirky individuals. The production on the track is sweet, and I already added this song to my playlist.

On May 3rd, John Park unveiled his new English single, “Daydreamer”, and I’m excited to hear his incredible voice once again.

The intro for this song is beautiful, and I love the lyric video’s visuals. Suppose you don’t know who John Park, kindly search up his songs immediately and spend some quality time enjoying yourself. This man has one of the most soulful voices I have heard in my life, and I’m not exaggerating. “Daydreamer” is such a beautiful and tranquil piece of music. I love it.

To close, I have a new single from Gummy titled “Autumn Breeze (re;code Episode VII)”, which she released on May 6th. This song is a remake of JIDA’s “Autumn Breeze (feat. Rachel Lim)”. JIDA is a South Korean producer. I started with a remake, and I’m also rounding up with one.

This version has a more jazzy instrumental, and it’s a bit slower. Such minor changes create a different aura for the song. At this point, we are aware of Gummy’s vocal ability, so I’m not going to touch much on how beautiful she sounds. She nailed this song and ultimately made it her own. “Autumn Breeze (re;code Episode VII)” is the perfect song for a quiet day.

That’s all I have for this post. I hope you all enjoy my quick reviews and found some new songs to add to your playlists. I’ll meet you all later, take care💕.
